Military Divorce

Since, 1850, San Diego, California has been closely associated with United States Military and its defense related industries. The U.S. Navy, Marine Corp and Coast Guard all have bases in San Diego County. Additionally major defense contractors such as NASSCO and General Atomic are located in San Diego.

For many serving in the U.S. Armed forces San Diego is a pleasant, but temporary home during their service and questions regarding what State is appropriate to file for divorce in, are quite common. Furthermore, issues regarding proper division of community property assets such as pensions can be complex and often its critical that either party speak with best divorce attorney they can find.

Service members Civil Relief Act 

The Service-members Civil Relief Act (SCRA) is a Federal law intended to protect military members. The SCRA'S impact on litigation in a family law context can be significant and it proper applicability and the extent to which it can be enforced should be discussed with competent legal counsel.

Since California is a community property state and Military Pensions generally stem from the Federal Government.  Jurisdictional issues, such a as domicile can be critical in a California Divorce case and should be discussed with an attorney.
